Construction & Materials

Every Style of Construction, Every Hardwood Species

We build in three core cabinet door constructions and a full range of solid hardwood species, so your cabinetry matches your home's architecture and your personal taste exactly.

Inset

Doors and drawers sit flush inside the face frame for a tailored, furniture-grade look historically found in the finest homes. The most labor-intensive style we offer.

Full Overlay

Doors cover the face frame almost entirely, leaving minimal reveals between doors for a clean, contemporary appearance without sacrificing traditional framed construction.

Partial Overlay

Doors cover most of the face frame while leaving a visible reveal around each door and drawer, offering the classic look of traditional framed cabinetry with efficient, budget-conscious construction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Custom Cabinetry Questions, Answered

Everything homeowners, builders, and designers ask us before starting a custom cabinetry project.

How much does custom kitchen cabinetry cost?+

Custom cabinetry pricing depends on the scope of the project, wood species, door style, and finish complexity. Because every piece is built to order rather than pulled from a stock catalog, we provide a detailed quote after an initial design consultation so you know exactly what you are paying for -- no filler panels or generic sizing.

How long does a custom cabinetry project take?+

Most full kitchen projects take several weeks to a few months from final design approval to installation, depending on the size of the project and finish selections. We will give you a realistic timeline during your consultation and keep you updated as your cabinetry moves through our shop.

What is the difference between custom, semi-custom, and stock cabinetry?+

Stock cabinets come in fixed sizes and require filler panels to fit your space. Semi-custom offers limited size and finish options within a manufactured line. True custom cabinetry, like ours, is designed and built specifically for your exact dimensions, wood species, and finish -- with no compromises in fit or scale.

Do I need my own designer, or can Rustic Creations help design my kitchen?+

Both. Many of our clients arrive with a builder or interior designer's plans already in hand, and we execute them precisely. Others prefer our in-house design and build team to help concept layouts, storage solutions, and finishes from the first conversation.

What wood species and finishes do you offer?+

We regularly work in white oak, walnut, hard maple, cherry, and hickory, along with poplar and MDF for premium painted finishes. Every species can be stained, oiled, or painted to match your vision, and we provide physical samples before production begins.

Do you serve areas outside of Canaan, Indiana?+

Yes. We are based in Canaan, Indiana and regularly install cabinetry throughout Southeast Indiana, and ship completed custom cabinetry to homeowners, builders, and designers across the broader Midwest.
